I get so much cooking inspiration from Instagram that it’s hard to imagine a time when it didn’t exist. Seeing other people cook and bake beautiful things has given me the confidence to try new recipes and cobble together recipes of my own. In honour of Valentine’s Day, I thought I’d round up a few of the food-related Instagram accounts I love best …
1. Deb Perelman (@smittenkitchen)
Deb is my personal hero and she has never steered me wrong. I made her dark chocolate tart with gingersnap crust for dessert last weekend and the compliments alone will keep me going for a week.
2. Nate Appleman (@nappleman)
Nate Appleman, dubbed “The God of Healthyish Home Cooking” by Bon Appetit, is the director of culinary at Chipotle, but his Instagram account focuses on something completely different: the dinners he makes for his nine year-old son, Oliver. I really believe that his “everything whole fat, whole food, nothing processed” philosophy is the best way to eat right.
3. Reynolds Kitchens (@reynoldskitchens)
Yes, this is the Reynolds Wrap corporate Instagram account, but how cool is their “Endless Table” concept? The recipes are simple and easy to follow, and it’s a great place to get plating and presentation inspiration.
4. Molly Yeh (@mollyyeh)
The quality of light in Molly’s pictures makes me want to be a better baker and a better person.
5. Caroline Somos (@wholesomos)
Last but not least, Caroline Somos of Blackbird Fabrics is a bad-ass lady entrepreneur who also happens to be an excellent cook and one of my best friends in the world. Her Whole 30 chronicles are a wonderful source of inspiration for tasty, casual lunch ideas.
